As Spring 2007 approaches, we at M&M are busily preparing for the Spring Chilean season and the Fall California season. Chilean grapes including the notable Carmenere and Malbec are slated to arrive during the last week of April. We are finding that the idea of a Spring fresh grape season is really taking hold with our customers whom until recently (the last two years), could only expect a fresh grape winemaking opportunity during the fall California season.
The Spring Chilean season offers winemakers the opportunity to diversify their cellar, to hone skills, and for those who found themselves unable to make wine during the fall timeframe, it is a second chance to do so.
Seizing the opportunity is key...the world perception of Chilean wine has not yet caught up with the reality. The reality is that Chile offers a wonderfully diverse growing climate and exceptional wines that compete on a world stage. This phenomena creates a unique opportunity for us here in the U.S. to have the ability to acquire fine Chilean wine grapes that have not been retained for the production of high-end Chilean wine.
On the Californian and domestic front, we are actively engaging growers/suppliers - those with whom we already have established relationships and new growers/suppliers to ensure we are positioned to meet your winemaking needs.
Our expectation is that 2007 will be another major year for growth, as an organization. What this means to our customers is that we are currently working on customer-centric initiatives that will improve how we communicate with our customers, the offerings we are able to make to our customers, and our geographical reach.
This write-up would be incomplete if we did not remind you of considerations you should be making in your wine cellar at this time of the year. Because we are now supporting multiple seasons, we have put together a reminder system with suggestions of things you might consider at different points throughout the year. Attention to such details will surly help ensure positive outcomes in your cellar. For more information on winemaking considerations to be made at this time of year click here
